Naturalist Paul Hitch will talk about the history of homesteading in the US, particularly the Homestead Act of 1862 and population settling in the West.

Jan Gillis, co-author of the book Oakdale: The Lapeer State Home will host a short video presentation and will then lead the participants on a walk back to Oakdale’s remaining cemetery.
