The Lapeer District Library will ask voters on August 7th, 2018 to approve .42 mills for 25 years to fund a new main branch for the library system.

The ballot language will appear in the following townships and cities: Arcadia, Burlington, Burnside, Deerfield, Elba, Hadley, Lapeer, Marathon, Mayfield, Metamora, Oregon, Rich and City of Lapeer.

Ballot language:
Shall the Lapeer District Library, formed by the County of Lapeer, the City of Lapeer, the Township of Lapeer and the Township of Mayfield, in the County of Lapeer, State of Michigan, borrow a sum  not to exceed Twelve Million Six Hundred Thousand Dollars ($12,600,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds therefor, for the purpose of paying all or a portion of the costs of acquiring , constructing, equipping and furnishing a new main library facility to be located at the southwest corner of Davison and Demille Roads on a site already owned by the Library and making improvements to that site, including costs related thereto?                                                                                 
The following is for informational purposes only:
The maximum number of years the bonds may be outstanding, exclusive of refunding, is twenty-five (25) years; the estimated millage to be levied to pay the proposed bonds in the first year is .42 mills (which is equal to $0.42 per $1,000 of taxable value); and the estimated simple average annual millage required to retire the bonds over 25 years is .34 mills (which is equal to $0.34 per $1,000 of taxable value).
